This was originally supposed to take place in Old Westbury but was switched to Cedar Park. The bike (12.4 miles) became a 14 loop nightmare. I Wasn't sure what I would do? I can't count 14 laps.

Here is the e-mail from triandduit.com.

Course Details:
The course will feature a 2 mile road run which is all flat. From the first
run racers will enter the rear of the transition area and exit the front of
the transition area for the bike. The bike consists of a criterium style
bike course and racers will need to 14 laps for 20k.

Bike Info: We will have a chip timing point on the bike course to count laps
and feed the info to a timing/announcer table. We will have 3-4 volunteers
counting your laps and shouting them out as you pass. Please do not solely
rely on the volunteers counting the laps. They will do the best they can,
but in the end, you need to make sure you do 14 laps. Please do the best
you can.

Enter into the front of the transition area after the bike portion and exit
out the back for the 2nd run, which will follow the same course as the first.
The finish line will be located behind the transition area.

Cold and Windy morning. I woke up at 4am and the weather was 55 degrees going to 60 degrees. By the time I left the house, it actually dropped to 52. I get there and set up. Start to talk to people.

The night before I came up with a "great" idea on how to count laps. I brought 14 rubberbands and put them on my aero bars. Every lap, I littered. It worked. Lot of people who listened to the volunteers ended up doing extra laps. They never actually called my number at all so I was happy. Also, since it was a small course, drafting was permitted. I tried and whenever possible did. The best was when a police car came onto the bike course. I was not even subtle about it. I was an inch behind his rear bumper and I could tell from his eyes in the mirror that he was not happy about it. I drafted for about a 1/4 mile going by transition area. At one point, someone must have gone out of his way, because he floored it, leaving me. I was left there yelling at him to come back and that it's ok for me to draft.

Anyway, both the run and bike were very windy and that sucked.
