So, it was gonna be a hot day with 90+ F and high humidity and COLD water. Brought the wet suit and kinda happy about it since I hurt my shoulder swimming a week+ ago and it still hurts. They put me in the 7th wave(age group) which really sucks.
We get to the waters edge and see a 2 foot, 40 pound dead fish on shore. ACH! Anyway, this year the lifeguards refused to let us in the water to warmup. Sucks. Anyway, first wave is at the waters edge with 2 minutes to go. Suddenly, one of the lifeguards blew the whistle to get people out of the water and the first wave jumps in and starts swimming with the race director screaming "GET BACK!!!". Kinda funny. You don't blow a whistle at that time. Swim went ok. Current was strong and water was cold.
Bike went ok. Had some good moments. I was hurting on the run a little. Finished first loop and started second when I heard this guy, a first waver who finished, say "you ready to follow", and I am thinking a pacer so I tried to stick with them. Stuck with them for a 1/2 mile or so. Finished strong. Funny thing is, that even though I thought I did not have a great run, I still beat my time on last weeks Quantum Feet 5K by 1 second.
