The first real triathlon with the new bike. Real dress-rehearsal for Patriot with the new bike.
Got there a little later than I am used to. Mens room line HUGE. Set up and got my chip.
Going on the beach and in the water are 2 rescue divers in what looks like radiotion suits. Not a good feeling here.
Got to get used to the water a little and then went toward the starting line where they yelled at us to get out of the water. Elite wave went in. I heard 7 went in tho I only saw 4 come out of the water. Either the other 3 did not show up or they got swallowed by the first wave.
Started the swim and misjudged it a little. Had to go around the line. Settled in and found my rhythm. Started catching previous waves. The benefit of being in wave number 7. Approached the first buoy and then the second and then a straight run to the beach. Actually started pushing - thought of Andre yelling at me.
Hard run to T1 and out with the bike. Did what I could but should have pushed more. Seat not that comfortable so maybe that's why. Went back to the bike store and had saddle adjusted. Better now.
Fast T2 and then the run. Thought I was running slow but had a good run and a good sprint at the end.
Best Gold Coast for me yet.
