My first ever relay race. Little stressful. The whole team is counting on you. My teammate - ultra competitive. Also, 3-4 inches of snow. I would not have been upset if it was cancelled. NYRR, changed their 4 mile race the day before to a fun run because of the weather. All in all, still sick and running through snow.
Our team was "team Wii". It was Me (1st leg), Jamil (2nd leg) and Donald (3rd leg).
First leg was tough. Everyone trying to get a good position. It looks like a 4*4 drove the course so their was some tire tracks to run in. That's what everyone was pushing for. Lot of jostling. The snow was also loose and not trampled down. Crowded too. The other legs were easier. I ran the loop, 2 more times and it was much easier then.
There was a downhill that sucked because of the ice and a long uphill (from mile 1 to mile 1.5). In the last quarter, there was also a steep hill that because of the snow and ice, it was very hard to climb - kept slipping.
Jamil was funny when I got to their house. He said, "We might win. Not to many people will show up". I told him, don't count on it. As is, 145 teams (of 3 people each) were present.
