Finally, we're going to do Rob's run. Supposedly a cross country 5K. Lee likes them and I guess so do I so why not. It's always been cold or we forgot so this time, we are doing it. I didn't pre-register us because I wanted to see what the weather will be. You never know!

I knew it was going to rain later in the day but as we drove the kids to Lee's parents house it was snowing. Then sleeting. Then raining. Then a combination of crap and a lot of wind.

Elizabeth asks me in the car about how I did not sign us up because of the weather and here we are driving in this garbage?!?

Lee agreed to wear my tights underneath her sweatpants, to wear my long sleeve running shirt and to take both my running gloves and mittens. Amazing. I wore shorts, long sleeve shirt and my muffler and orange hot. Took my old running gloves too. Still, it was cold. My hands were freezing. Traction was horrible because of the ice. Yucky.

The course:

  1. small loop around the soccer field on grass and mud
  2. small loop around the soccer field on grass and mud and then into stillwell woods for single track full of mud.
  3. small loop around the soccer field on grass and mud and then into stillwell woods for single track full of mud but shorter then loop 2, going to the finish line.

Once I finished, I walked back to the 3 mile marker to bring Lee home. On the way, I saw a woman whose face was all muddy. Guess she took a spill. Lee eventually showed up (I was getting worried) and I brought her home. It was a hard run.

Running on the mud was very difficult. Put your foot down and it just squished and sort of rolled around. We ate something and Lee actually let me go get the car because she was cold. That's a first.

Last couple of things....1) I was a full minute off from my time. 2) Took me ten minutes in shower to scrape all the mud and grime off my shin/calf/leg etc.

It was fun and maybe we will do it next year.
