Saturday July 30 was nuts. We were supposed to go to Connecticut, leaving at 12. Race packet pickup was from 12-6 on saturday. I e-mailed the race director to see if I can pickup at 11am and he said ok. I left saturday at 10:15 to Staten Island. We sat on the Belt Pkwy b/c of a bad accident. Got there and back just in time.
The swim was fine. I was able to keep up my pool pace and considering this was an open water swim I was happy. I was not happy when I put my head into the water to get acclimated to the water and saw a Jellyfish. Well, I got stung. It did not swell but I had red marks on me.
The bike was fine except that this time I tried something new. Instead of putting my power gel in my shorts, I taped it to the bike. I lost one and was able to get one. Well, I now have new shorts with pockets.
The 5K run seemed to long. Everyone complained about their time.
