Elizabeth decided last minute to do the inaugural 5K. We knew the weather was gonna suck but hey. Asked the kids what they want to do: Grandparents or cheer Mom. They chose Mom. The whole family went Friday to the expo to pickup my stuff and register Lee. Got lots of booty and new sneakers FINALLY for Lee.
Can't sleep late saturday morning. Road closures starting at 7:30 and we had to be there early to pickup her timing chip. We passed the road closures at 7:25. They were just starting to close the highway exit off the Meadowbrook and parked. Chilly day, good for running but not spectating. Jessie was cold and I gave ehr my 2007 L.I. Marathon sweatshirt. I'm freezing my butt off in a t-shirt. Did I mention I got sick on wednesday and I was NOT feeling well going into the Marathon? Managed to find a windbreaker in the trunk and that helped a little.
They started on time. The kids and I walked and got some free stuff. This is the 2nd time ever that I did not run. The first was a screw up in scheduling. Lead male came in blazing in approx 15-16 minutes. He seemed like he was just walking slowly as opposed to running full steam. Next person was about 2 minutes after him. Incredible.
