I found this link on mapmyrun.com. It maps the run nicely.

Lee is officially signed up again and has again not trained. I took ker to the 5 mile APS course a few weeks ago. That's it! Not sure what to do with her.
This year, also, Jim is doing the full (his first) and Pepe is doing the half (his first). Exciting stuff. I've been managing the long runs for both. They're both ready. Jim has done a 19+ and Pepe has done an 11.
Scheduling is again going to be interesting this year. My mother is working on Sundays and she usually takes the early shift with the kids. Also, Jessie is invited to a birthday party while I am still running, so Lee will have to finish, get home somehow, get cleaned up and take her to the party. Also, makes sense for Pepe to go with us and picked up by Alley(wife) and Kate(2 year old daughter). I don't know if Jim's wife (Evelyn) and daughter (Ekaterina) wanna be there for Jim's finish so that's gonna determine how we do things too. Stay tuned.
Friday, April 30th left work an hour early like usual. Came home, ate dinner with the family, walked the dog etc. Message on the answering machine saying that Lee has a dentist appointment for cleaning the next day at 9am. OOPS.
Saturday, May 1st, Pepe is supposed to pick me up at 9:40 to go the expo. Meanwhile we found out the Lee has to go to the Dentist. She leaves the house at 8:50. Jeremy's drum teacher shows up at 8:55. At 9:40, I take the dog for a quick Pee walk. As I leave the house, Elizabeth pulls into the driveway as Pepe shows up as well. The timing! Lee takes the dog and I leave with Pepe. We go to the expo. The expo opens up at 10 and we get there at 9:55. Big line to get in and the parking lot is blocked by some trucks. Pepe goes the wrong way on purpose and finds a parking spot right in front of the entrance. Sweet!
I brought my new Garmin so Pepe can help me get it back to run mode. Stuck in bike mode but he also can't figure it out. Damn.
We go inside. I get Lee's stuff and Pepe gets his. Bought something from The Pampered Chef and also get Jessie a "I Run Like a Girl" green tech shirt. Pepe gets one for his little girl too. After I buy a spiel belt spinoff for Elizabeth, I also ask them if they know how to change the Garmin. Guy refers me to a younger guy who can't figure it out either. Meanwhile the original guy comes over, clicks some buttons and it works! Awesome.
We get our race shirts only to find out I missed my pickup. OOPS. Sneak back and get my stuff.
Little annoyed about 2 things here: 1) They are using the crappy "chip in a bib" system and 2) that the half-marathon and full marathon shirts are the same this year.
Let me explain. The shirts: Different distances, different size medals and in my opinion the shirts should be different. Hmph!
The chips: Because they are in the bib, the bib cannot be folded, bent or manhandled. More importantly, they cannot be used in conjunction with a race belt. BAD! The best thing about a race belt is that they give you the option to change cloths. When I ran the Wineglass Marathon in Corning, we started with 30 degrees weather and finished in the 50's. I shed some layers but because I had a racebelt it was easy. Well, my finish and splits were not recorded. I had to email the RD. Since, I wasn't in contention for anything including Boston, they believed me.
Well, I pinned my bib on. I knew I wasn't gonna change cloths anyway. Still, ain't right.
Got home, made lunch and packed the YMCA bags up. Jessie(J2) to gymnastics. Lee took Jeremy (J1) to her parents house. Monday is Lee's birthday, she's turning 40, and her brother is there with his Girlfriend and his son. I stick around to watch J2. I talk to Jim. He's nervous and calm. He's not swimming. His plan is to go to the Expo after his daughter's swim class.
The plan: We decide that he comes to my house at 5:50 and we caravan (2 cars) together. Pepe will go with him and I will go with Lee in our car. Lee needs the car for after the race. Jim's family not coming to the finish so he will wait for me and take me home.
I run into Anu. She and Ed are running the half. I suggested to her that they go with us. She thinks it's a good idea.
At 1:55, I pull J2 out of gymnastics to transition her to the swim. Lee is still not back. Jess handles it by herself with Evelyn in tow. J2 swimms when suddenly Lee shows up with J1. Since all ok, they leave toward Barnes-N-Noble. I watch J2 swim. She handles going to the shower by herself too. My little girl is getting older.
J2 and I hang out watching the gymnastics team practice while J1 swims. Can't get her to leave. She starts again practicing even tho she's nto supposed to. The coach lets her so that's cool.
On my feet the whole day so far but I'm ok. This is important to note. Up until this weekend, I had bad heel pain. I was thinking maybe stress fracture or something. Well, on Friday I googled and it looks like my friend Plantar Fascia came back. That's actually GREAT news. That's something that I could deal with. Frozen water bottle trick a lot Friday night. Helped! Saturday, even though I was on my feet, I used the cold floor at the YMCA to ice my feet. All good.
Wanted to go to sleep early Saturday night but life gets in the way as usual and bed time was 10pm. For most that is a lot but when you wake up at 2am, that's 4 hours before a marathon. More on that later.
Sunday, wake up at 2 a.m and immediatly get out of the bed. Breakfast, e-mail and bathroom. It's 2am and it's already freaking 72 degrees. Lee wanted to wake up at 5:15 but that didn't fit with my schedule. Woke her up at 5am and then went to take the dog for a walk. He didn't mind the early walk. It was hot but fortunatly breezy. Nothing to be done about it.
Race director sent out an email the night before.
2010 RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon: Festival of Race Marathon Safety Alert The Nassau County Office of Emergency Management has advised us to expect higher than normal temperatures tomorrow, Sunday, May 2. If temperature conditions warrant, Full Marathon runners who reach the 10-mile point after 2:18:00 (6 hour pace) will be redirected to the Half Marathon course. Please understand that this decision will be made tomorrow through consultation with race management, the Nassau County Parks Department and the Office of Emergency Management. In the interest of safety, we ask for everyone’s cooperation in following the instructions of the Course Marshals at the 10 mile point. We urge all runners to stay well hydrated throughout your run tomorrow. Thank you. RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races
It's gonna be like that. They want to avoid another Chicago fiasco. I get it.
The pooch and I get back. Give him his breakfast and I hear J1 calling. Lee was already almost there. Say goodbye to the boy. Jim arrived. He and I go get Pepe. By the time we got back, Lee's mom was already there. Ready to roll when I realized that Lee still(!) didn't pin her bib on and probably would have left it there.
Took the opportunity to reboot my phone and messages started coming in. We caravan it with me in front. Saw an unbelievable 5 troopers on the road. Now, I wonder if it was related to the bomb scare at time square. Northern State PKWY to the Meadowbrook to M5 and we're almost there. Left into Eisenhower Park and look for parking. The race start is near the Long Island Childrens Museum and the finish is about a mile away at Eisenhower park. We go to parking lot 3, literally a stone throw away from the finish line. We see the SunRiseTri tents. Parking lots looks full but the renta-cops didn't close out the lot. People are parked on the grass! Well, I get to a point where there are about 10 spots roped in by a "Caution tape". What the hell?
I guess at this point we should consider the fact that this is NY and that we are NYers. I did the only obvious thing to do. The car in front of me stopped, I stopped, Jim stopped and the whole line behind us. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen and who would do what. The passenger in front of us got out of the car to perhaps lift the tape. I decided enough is enough and simply drove right over it. Jim followed. All the cars behind him followed suit. The guy in front of me did the same. Two cars back, I hear that it was roped by the NYPD running club. Hm...OK. Sucks to be them is all I can say. I don't care if it's the running club of the New York Police Department. Ripped the tape up to destroy evidence and threw it in Jims car.
From the 4 of us, I am the only one who thinks of Suntan lotion. This is experience talking not me. Took 2 bottles of spray. I don't like to touch the stuff. Can't ever really clean your hands and I just know that I will stick my finger in my eyes.
We all use it. I spray it all over. EXPERIENCE!
Look at cell. More messages came in. I got a message from Anu at 3:45pm on saturday that just made it. They wanna go with us. Shoot. Too late now.
Say hello to some of the people at the SunRiseTri tent. Lot of people from the club running today. Maybe the tent will actually be there when I finish? Last year it disappeared due to the rain. We'll see.
Went to use some indoor plumbing. As I go in, Len comes out. What!!! Use the facilities. I come out and Len is talking to Lee. Talk a little and also meet Rick R from Sunrise. He's planning on a 3:14. Gail suddenly shows up. Rick and wife disappear. Len says goodbye. Lee, Gail, Jim, Pepe and me start walking.
Follow the crowd. About a mile walk. As we walk, we see 2 girls with a TriandDuIt.com shirt. JP started his own club. As is, I recognize one of them. Jim and I ran into them running up fish hatcheries in Oyster Bay a few weeks back. We started early when it was cold so we ran with longs. They started later when it was warmer so they ran with shirts. Anyway, recognized her. Small world.
We are walking and people following the road. Silly people. Think outside the box. Take a little shortcut through the grass near the Aquatic Center. Saved maybe a 1/4 mile and time. Saw where Nassau PD teaches kids about bike safety. Closed bike course with little houses and stuff. Cool.
Walk to the start and get in line for the porta-potties. Long line but always take an opportunity. Pepe and I go to the porta-bushes. He didn't believe me when I told him about it. Men and woman taking care of biz. No matter how conservativve you might be - everyone is equal at that point. Needs trump modesty. Gail, Lee and Jim still in line. Waited for them and went to start. I make another trip to the bushes. Nice to by hydrated especially with a nervous bladder.
Find a tree about 25 feet behind a cop. Good tree until the cop decided he needed to turn. Made sure to water tree from all directions.
It's about 5 minutes before start. Lee wants to go to the end of the line. Told her not too. Knew she would. I head forward. Jim does too but I lost him. Not sure where Pepe is either. Ran into Matt Tague. HUGE M-Dot tatto on his calf. I don't get it but whatever. Before I knew it people are moving. OOPS.
Started running. First year ever that I saw the 1 mile marker. I have always missed it. Go figure. Didn't see Jim or anyone. Wonder what's going on. I figured Jim would be passing me any minute. Gail too.
Circled around with the course. It's pretty hot but there's a nice breeze. Take water and spill it into my AP hat. You lose a lot of heat through your head and I was gonna do my damnest not to lose it. Passed the L.I Childrens Museum. They have a Wizard of Oz thing going on and they have the wicked witch of the
Almost at the 10K split, around the 3 or 4 mile marker, I see Gail. She has her usual weird gait going. In english that means she looks good. She passes me after telling me she hasn't seen Jim either.
After the 10K split, I pass Gail. I just know she will be back.
Before Post Ave, Matt Wontz sees me and says hello. Maybe he didn't realize it was me? Maybe it's because I got him his and his girlfriends pictures from Disney? Who cares.
Up Post Ave in Westbury. A band starts the next song. A woman starts belting out Joan Jett's "I hate myself for loving you!" AWESOME! Just passed the studio that handled pictures and video at our wedding and a drama starts. A woman on the right side of the streets starts talking(yelling) to a cop on the left side of the street. If I got the gist of it, she just realized that she can't get her car out. Hm...I wonder if it was the police - do not cross tape, all the cops, all the bands, all the families/spectators lining the course or all the stinky smelly sweaty runners running in the street. HM....Maybe it was all the signs posted everywhere. Some people just never had and never will have a clue. They just can't be helped.
People drinking and drinking. Gotta watch out for hypotrinimia(sp?) where you drink and drink and overdrink. At one point I ran into 2 sunrise tri people. On Post Avenue past the Northern State Parkway, I ran into 1 of them. Not exactly sure what happened there.
On to Jericho Turnpike and there is some idiot running backwards and video taping. Hate those people. Get out of the way. This guy especially didn't belong. He didn't have a bib or anything. Wait...I recognize him. Jose Lopez, Deputy Commisionar of parks, tri-athlete including IM's and one of the coaches for the Runners Edge. Said hello to him and asked him how he was. Traded pleasentries and all. A few minutes later he announces while running, "Lead Marathoners are now entering the park at 1:05. Projected finish is 1:09". Everyone exclaims their variation of crap and WTF's. Took me 5 seconds before I realize something doesn't make sense. I tell him outloud, "You mean half-marathoners, right?" This long pregnant pause and "OOPS. Sorry. I mean half-marathoners". This of course is followed with relief by everyone. I mean there is fast and there is impossible. I get to one of the group of people who was amazed by his earlier remark and remark myself, "obviously someone is dehydrated!" Lots of laughs. We move on.
Right turn onto Brush Hollow Road. More water in hat. Careful hydration. I throw a cup out and from a far score a basket into the garbage. Things are good. Take a gel and throw it out from 3 meters away straight into the gutter. How the hell I know 3 meters? Same distance as the 3 meter diving board. I'm 2 for 2.
Left turn onto the Wantagh Parkway. This is the hard part of this marathon. Besides the distance, it's mentally tough. The half-mary people leave after a mile or so at W2 East. They have a 5K from there on. We stay on the Wantagh for another 6.5 miles, turn around just passed the W5 and then come back 6.5 miles to W2. It's a half-marathon on the Wantagh. Mentally tough becase most people leave. It's always been about 350 people doing the full versus the 3 or 4 thousand doing the half. This year it's different. Never seen the Wantagh Pkwy so busy. Apparently about 800 people signed up. Unbelievable.
I start talking to a guy named Brian. Apparently he put suntan lotion on and it was either dripping into his eye or he touched it and touched his eye. Either case he was pretty much blind in his right eye and in his words "running like a retard, banging into people". I offered him a napkin and told him to clean his eye out during the next water stop. He was *VERY* happy. It was his first time doing a marathon had the lofty goal of a sub 4 finish. I told him right there, that if he stays with me, it won't happen even tho we hit the 13.1 mile marker at 1:56:32 which if you double is less than 4 hours. He was Ok with it and we ran together talking.
At one point, he started hurting and and told me he appreciates this but he might have to drop soon. I told him not yet and that he's gotta wait for the 16.5 turnaround. He said that he will try.
At around mile 11 or 12, we saw Peter Hawkins, the wheelchair athlete. Great guy.
At around our mile 14, we saw the leaders coming back in. Well, actually, the leader. Guy was smoking hot. I looked at my watch and almost 3 minutes later did we see 2nd overall place man come through. If the leader kept pace, he had the race.
Now we were looking for first overall female. I just kept distracting him from the truth which actually distracted me as well. Mile 14 and suddenly we are at mile 16. He told me that he's dropping and I told him to wait until the turn around. We get to the turnaround and Gail comes around and passes us. We both still have no idea where Jim is. I told Gail that he is either way ahead of us or he is in big trouble behind us. Waved her on and she takes off. Told Brian to wait until we pass the water station before he drops. Next water station he drops. He just couldn't hold on anymore. Hope he finished.
The Wantagh coming back is a slow and long and not a bad hill but it is an incline. Gotta respect it. At this point, the nice cool breeze we had disappeared, the clouds disappeared, the sun completly came out and the humidity set in. People started walking. The thought set in but this hill is my enemy from a few years ago so NO walking!
Remember the girl from before the race with the triandduit.com team. Catch up to her and her friend. I told her that we met and the story etc and we run together and talk. Told her about the stupid chip in a bib. Hopefully she complains to JP. They started using that chip and I hope they stop.
Her friend(Ginger?) takes off and we just ran together. Up till mile 21. At that point, I told her that I wouldn't mind walking and she agreed but that she won't. I did. Ate a pretzel, took a gel and felt burning in the GI. Drank a little water and felt good. Started running and caught her at 22.5. Said goodbye and left her.
I don't remember when exactly but I caught up to Gail. She was suffering. She just couldn't cool down. Her asthma took over too and she was hurting. Told me to go.
I ran at a few points on the grass in the shade. Much cooler and softer on the knees there.
At one of the water stations, I wanted water and the guys only had Gatorade ready. When they realized I wanted water, one of the volunteers filled up 2 cups of water and ran after me. Guy ran after me to give me water. How COOL is that?
Lo and behold, I pass W3 and I get to W2. We get out at W2W, circle around and get back on the highway so we can get out at W2E just like the half-marathoners.
As I am climbing up the exit ramp at W2W, I see Jim walking. Oh My God. He was suffering bad. I asked him if he needed anything and he yelled at me to just GO-GO-GO.
I'm off the parkway and I see a woman on the phone with a bag of pretzels. I said "Hey!". She says sorry, hangs up the phone and ran after me. Like a relay runner, she hands me 2 long pretzels sticks. I yell thanks and continue running down the ramp onto the highway. I start sucking on one as I caught a glimpse of Jim running. I figured he started running because he saw me. Cool. I'll just save him one.
Get out of the highway for the last time and I run into a woman who is just standing. Told her there is only 5K to go and she sort of wakes up and starts running. I hoped to run with her but she ran away from me. That's ok.
Continue running and eventually catch up to her. Pasqua was her name and she's hurting. She died after 1 mile. We start running together. Told her what's next and that we are going to be near a Correctional Facility. Apparently she knows it and she "unfortunatly" know some residents. OOPS. We run together and suddenly we see the entrance to the park.
It's a 90 degree right turn into the park to see mile marker 25. Awesome except for the fact that the next 1.2 sucks. Twisty and turning and always misleading. You always think you are done and yet there is another turn and another. We see a 1/2 mile to go sign. Hate it. Not sure where Jim is. I expected him to join me already. I actually gave up on the 2nd pretzel and threw it out.
One last 90 degree right turn and we see the 26 mile marker. She wants to sprint and usually I do but not today. I go faster but no sprint. She sees a friend and starts screaming. Then she really starts running. She passes 2 people and finishes. I can't let that go without fighting. I pass those 2 and cross the finish line as well.
Finished with a PR that day. So far this year, I PR'ed in the the 5 mile, half-marathon and the full marathon. Good year so far. Important to bring it up at this point. I had no intention of PR'ing. This was supposed to be a training run and nothing more and the weather SUCKED! I was doing well during the race tho and I knew it. I "knew" a PR was there and at I kept re-doing the math in my head. All I had to do was simply enter the park at 4:05. At mile 21, something happened and I (mentally) crashed. At that point, I "knew" that a PR was NOT possible and that did it for me. I was done. The pretzel and gel really helped me out. That's when I remembered that I wasn't going for a PR in the first place and damn everything else. I started running again and things looked good. When I caught up with Gail and later that girl things looked even better. Oh yeah, that's when I realized a PR is there again but I remembered that it did not matter. It never did. That's just not me.
Back to the finish...A quick hug to Pasqua, wishing her well. Got my medal and got my brand new sweatshirt. Went to the medical tent. It's all about experience and Disney taught me well. Asked for some ice. I didn't go in exactly but sat on the side. On the outside. I didn't want to take space from someone else who might need it. A kind woman brought me 2 bags and told me to put it on the back of my neck to help cool down. No thanks...I put it on my knees. Told them I have another race to worry about. Recovery starts IMMEDIATLY. Gail finished a little after me. Called her over. She was suffering. Overheated and asthmatic. Allergies didn't help her. She said that breathing was hard. Had a good stretch up until it hit. Few minutes later Jim finished. Sat next to me. Got 3 bags for ice. One for each knee and one for the back of his head. He was upset. He was really upset and beating himself up badly. He went out way to fast. Did a 1:46 half-marathon and DIED. Walked a lot. He never had the pleasure before - the embarassment. "I didn't respect the distance" were the words he used. It was a wake up call for him.
Got our food bag and got out picture taken together. Gail couldn't stomach food but went to get coffee. I wanted to escort her to her car. Make sure she had food ready when her body was. We all walked together. She parked not too far from us. Got lucky. Someone left as she got there.
And now for a very SORE subject for me. SunRiseTri. Weenies weren't there. They left. Again. When I was at mile 26, they still had 1 tent left. I actually thought WOW! They stayed. About 10 minutes later (Wait for Jim and walk) and they were gone. They left again. Fine - they didn't know I was there but they knew Jimw as racing. They knew and left. Who does that? I was upset and I am upset. There is no other way to say it.
We left Gail and Jim and I drove to my house. Tried to talk to Jim. Don't know how much he took in. He left and I called his wife behind his back and had a long conversation with her. Hopefully, she will have given him the support he needs. I'm sure she did. This way, she had what to say to him - the facts.
Got inside and took the dog for a quick Pee walk. He was so happy to see me. He also enjoyed licking the salt off me. Took a bath. Lee and the kids came home. Watched a little TV and made sure that J1 finished his math HW. Then off to Naimoi's pizza for the special marathon dinner. Had a slice, fallafel balls with chummus and a bagel that was stuffed with potato and spinach. Great dinner.
Walked the dog. Wanted to do a small walk but Jessie wanted to scooter. Ended up with a medium (1+ mile) walk.
Results were up. Some things were going on. Anu and Ed got there late. Had parking problems. Started 20 minutes late. Their results were padded by 20 minutes. Jason Margolis splits weren't all there. Neither was his finish time. My time wasn't there at all. I didn't run at all it seems. Emailed the timing guy from flrrt.com. Good thing too. Left my cell number. Guy called me less than 5 minutes later. Website updated in minutes. Started letting people know about the stupid chip in the bib fiasco. Turns out a lot of people either didn't run or had missing splits. I hope enough people complain.
Again back to Sunrise. I emailed the list. I could not not do anything. My emailis here.
The results are up but a lot of results are either missing or incomplete. Had a 6+ minute PR on a marathon disappear on me. It's all b.c of the stupid new chip in a bib system. Hope they get enough complaints to stop using them. Anyway, I emailed katz@flrrt.com and he said he will take care of it. If anyone has issues email him and leave him a phone number and he'll take care of it. Guy called me up about 5 minutes after I emailed him. Now, if he can only make it that a sunrise tent will stay up when the slower folk finish it will be a miracle. Then again unlike last year, I learned my lesson. Just didn't expect it to be there. Made sure to have my own provisions. Congrats to all the finishers I would have liked to have met.
No one specifically replied to me or to my post but at least it quelled the BS email. Usually there is a lot of email congratulating people or thanking Frank and Kathy from Sunrise. My email put an end to it. Thank God. Would have been a real slap to see that. Later a few trickled in but not the usual flood.
Getting real sick of them.
Monday, I was supposed to go to a school picnic with the kids but woke up to torrential thuderstorms. Checked my email in the morning with the dog under the table shaking in fear because of the thunder and lightening. Poor guy. Walked him anyway. Had to empty his bladder.
Had a massage. Foot seems ok but not yet finished with. Quads are definitly more sore after the treatment but that's ok - I know they are healing. It seems that I also (not sure about the words) either pulled/hurt/strained the abductor muscle. In other words the groin muscle. During the run, I felt it around my right hip. She got to it right away.
The only other "real and obvious" injury was very obvious immediatly after the race. Got a blister on the right foot between the pinky toe and his friend. At home, I cut it out but it was burning. Thank God, these are the extent of the injuries.
As is, my legs seem now almost at 100%. Am I ready to run a long distance run/race, time will tell. Still, I have a few more days to recover before the race.
I forgot to mention that right before the start I glimpsed Laughlin but didn't get to say hello. I might also have seen Tom(?), Gerry's friend. Not sure.
And for Elizabeth's side. She won't sit and write but I'll try to see what I remember that she told me.
The plan for her was to run the half, head to the car and drive home. Shower, change and walk the dog. Then drive to her parents house. Small lunch and then take J2 to a birthday party. She and J1 would go to Barnes-n-Noble. She was hoping to run with anyone so she kept her eyes open. Posibilities included: Anu, Jason Margolis or Jennifer (a girl she met at the Alley Pond 5 Mile Challenge).
We never saw Anu, but she did see Jason. Last year, he came in about 2 minutes before her. Alas, he trained better this year, lost 20 pounds and took off. Shaved about 20+ minutes from his time.
She saw Jennifer who apparently also did not train. She slowed down for Jennifer sake and Jennifer slowed down as well. Oh well.
She saw Gerry (CJR). On and off they kept trading places. He's ahead - she's ahead - he's ahead - etc.
Funniest thing about CJR and me is that we both think the other is crazy. Yet we both admitedly do what others perceive as nuts. We both have a valid (to us) reason of course. He told Lee that I'm nuts since I was up at 3am or so on Facebook. Gerry, if you're reading this, I was up at 2am!
I can't run on a full stomach and I need about 2.5 hours to eat and empty if you know what I mean. I chose to wake up at 2am, be ready by 5am and walk the dog at 5am. This way, I still have 20 minutes or so for last minute Oh_my_God_moments. We all have those. No problems with the GI system during the race - Hooray...
Anyway, she like everyone else suffered. She normally never drinks. Never stops at a water stop and if you're running with her and you stop or slow down at a fluid staion don't expect her to wait. Not this time. She stopped and drank a few times. She stopped and poured water over her head. Gotta do what you gotta do.
Everyone suffered in this race. There's no doubt. According to Newsday, 20 people were sent to the Hospital due to dehydration. There's a great picture of a medical personal dude catching a collapsing runner and helping him across the finish line probably straight to the medical tent. Supposedly 350+ full marathoners didn't make the cutoff and were forced onto the half-marathon course. It was a hot one. One of the problems was that we all trained during the cold winter months. No one expected the change in temps we had. Same thing happened with the NYC Half-Marathon last year. People weren't acclimated to the weather and crashed. Tried to explain it to Jim and he listened but didn't really hear it.
That's it for now, I guess. Good thing I am not a writer otherwise this would really be a long report. HAHA.
